It’s Auntie Alene’s birthday! One of our main reasons for the timing of this trip was for Pam and her Aunt to spend their birthdays together. These two are amazing. They have had a deep connection over the years and were able to reconnect during our stay with Aunt and Uncle. We are grateful for the very best accommodations in Makawao.
After a delicious breakfast of papaya, apple bananas, yogurt, homemade granola, and a little Uncle Louie’s Portuguese sausage we went on a country drive to Ulupalakua with the winery as our destination.
This is gorgeous country. The ride with aunt and uncle is the best with an abundance of comedy and snappy banter.
Check out this bizarre jade vine. Have you ever seen a flower with this odd turquoise color? Other worldly.
And more from the winery grounds…
Pam rescued this Jackson chameleon. The tree he was on was not good for climbing. We could see him struggle with each reach and he fell a few times. Much to his consternation Pam moved him to a more appropriate climbing tree.
Alene’s birthday dinner was at Polli’s Cantina in Makawao. An institution. Very good food. Very large food!
Tomorrow we leave for Hana adventures…
